Blue Peel and Oily Skin

The Blue Peel is creating quite a stir today. This light chemical peel promises new fresh skin with the ability to reduce large pores and remove superficial blemishes. It was initially created by Dr. Zein Obagi, the developer of the Nu-Derm skin care line.

Blue Peel and Oily Skin

There are some issues to consider with the Blue Peel and an oily skin tone.

Some reports indicate more whiteheads and breakouts, along with oozing and inflammation.  Facial skin can be burned and scarred if the Blue Peel is not properly applied. There has been studies showing that patients complain of intense pain when the top layer of the skin is peeled off, allowing for new skin.

Many treatment users report discomforts including redness, swelling and peeling of the face. Several report excessive dryness and sores.  Certain individuals claim to have had pain for one week or more, along with the feeling of confinement. Some even express the feeling of a burn victim. Others explain that the itching as it is healing is almost unbearable.

It probably is good practice to stay out of the sun for the first 24 to 48 hours, as the skin is very vulnerable at this time from the top layer being removed.

Do always keep in mind, that a Blue Peel should always be performed by a trained medical professional or licensed aesthetician.
