Candidacy for a Chemical Peel

A Chemical Peel places chemical on the skin and allows them to soak in; soon after, the outer layers of skin peels off. This allows new skin to grow in its place and gives the skin a much younger and refined appearance. There are three types of chemical peels and candidacy for which one is best is determined by skin type, color and specific skin issue.  In general, an ideal candidate for a chemical peel will want to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne, age spots and sun damage.

Mild Peel Candidates

A mild or superficial peel is best for any skin type, color or skin condition that is mild in nature. The best candidate for this peel are those that have minor skin issues and are just looking to improve the over all appearance of skin.

Medium Peel Candidates

Medium chemical peel candidates will be those that have moderate skin problems, such as age spots and acne scars. This peel is stronger than the mild peel.

Deep Peel Candidates

The deep peel is reserved solely for those individuals with severe skin problems, and unlike the other peels, can only be performed once. It's not used on darker skinned people because it bleaches the skin.
