How LATISSE Is Performed

LATISSE ® is a product used as a solution for eyelash darkening and lengthening, as well as thickening. The product is quite new and is being offered by a good number of ophthalmologists and cosmetic surgeons. The product has been approved by the FDA for the purposes outlined above. In comparison with normal eyelash makeup, this product offers more definition to the eye and produces pleasant results in fewer weeks.

Application of LATISSE ®

This product is prescribed by your physician. The product comes as a kit and contains the LATISSE ® solution, as well as a supply of hygienic disposable applicators.

When applying LATISSE ® , put a drop of the solution at the tip of the applicator; subsequently, you have to draw it along your upper eyelash baseline. The process is very similar to the one involved in applying eyeliner. When you have completed the application of the solution on one eye, you have to proceed to the other eye using a fresh applicator. The solution produces a moist feeling as it is being applied.

A better result will be achieved with the product if its application is incorporated into your nightly routine. Do not apply more than prescribed just to measure up with a skipped session. Ignore the skipped session and continue with the normal application routine. ?If you perform the application properly, the treatment will be as effective as possible.

The Outcome of the Process

About one month or more will elapse before the initial outcome of Latisse treatment becomes prominent. General improvements of the length, color and thickness of the eyelashes will be experienced for the next 8 weeks following the application of the solution. This bimatoprost ophthalmic solution works gradually. You need to take caution not to overuse the solution, otherwise you will be increasing the potential side effects (eye itching and redness) of the product.

How Does LATISSE ® Work?

There are 3 stages for hair growth; the phases are the growth, transition and the dormant phase. Each phase follows the other; the dormant phase is the stage that the follicles are known not to produce hair growth. Therefore, the solution works to lengthen the hair growth phase. As the growth phase is extended, the growth of the eyelashes linger, prior to the interruption of the transition phase and subsequently, the dormant phase.

The solution enables more than a single eyelash to sprout out from a number of the follicles; this results in the thickening of the eyelashes and improvement of the eyes appearance. The production of melanin (the pigment responsible for the color of the skin and hair) in larger amounts, as offered by LATISSE ® , facilitates the darkening of the eyelashes.

More Tips on LATISSE ® Application

Do not let your finger tip come in contact with the bottle or applicator. This measure is to prevent contamination by common bacteria that causes infections. The solution should also be kept off other surfaces that may contaminate it. You may also need to speak with your physician for additional information on the application and use of Latisse.
