How to Prepare for Lipotherme

Lipotherme is laser treatment that reduces fat deposits from different areas of the body. The laser used in the Lipotherme treatment also contracts the skin, making it tighter and smoother. This is an advantage that some fat reducing systems don’t offer. If you are planning on receiving Lipotherme treatment, it is important to know how to prepare for the procedure.

Preparing for the Procedure

Lipotherme treatment involves small incisions, so you will be given an anesthetic. Inform your physician if you are allergic to any anesthetics. You should also fast for at least 3 hours before administration of the anesthetic.

A tumescent anesthesia (a sort of local infusion) is applied and then a cannula is inserted through small incisions. The laser will also facilitate the suction of the fat by the cannula.

Discontinue taking birth control pills 2 weeks prior to the procedure, as these may lead to the formation of blood clots. Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications 1 or 2 weeks prior to the procedure. If you smoke, you should quit at least 1 week before Lipotherme treatment; this will speed up the healing.

You may want to arrange to have transportation home after the procedure, as even if the anesthesia is not general, you may feel discomfort. Lose as much weight as possible before the procedure and make sure to maintain a sensible diet after the procedure as well, to avoid gaining back fat. Educate yourself about what happens during the procedure to be even more prepared.

The results after Lipotherme may start to show a few weeks after the procedure.
