LATISSE ® is also known as bimatoprost?ophthalmic?solution, having a low concentration of 0.03%, and is used to stimulate the growth of eyelashes, making them darker, thicker and longer. The eyelashes are meant to protect the eyes and their growth may be affected by age or different health conditions or hormonal imbalances. If you are not happy with the appearance of your eyelashes, LATISSE ® is a prescription treatment that may be helpful. However, you have to know how to take care of your eyelashes after the treatment, to make sure the effects last for a long time.
Eyelash Care after LATISSE ®
Typically, LATISSE ® will only be effective while you apply the treatment. LATISSE ® will stimulate the hair follicles that are in the pores and these are moisturized, so they are more likely to grow.
After you discontinue the application of the product, your lashes may be healthier, thicker, darker and longer, but you will have to pay special attention to your diet and possibly apply some natural products or repeat the LATISSE ® treatment.
The effects of LATISSE ® vary, so you may benefit from more beautiful lashes for a few weeks to a couple of months after discontinuing the treatment. This may depend on your lifestyle, diet and the ability of your skin to maintain healthy eyelashes.
Diet
Your diet influences the health of your skin, nails and hair. Consequently, if you have a healthy diet, the quality of your eyelashes should be improved. Talk to a nutritionist to determine if there are missing nutrients in your diet. Omega 3 supplements may be prescribed along with some multivitamins to stimulate the growth of hair and eyelashes.
Natural Products
In addition to a healthy diet, you may also stimulate the growth of the eyelashes by applying a few solutions: vaseline or vitamin E can give you shinier and healthier eye brows.
Eyelash Hygiene
You should also clean and brush your eyebrows on a regular basis to ensure that there are no impurities that could interfere with the growth of the eyelashes. Clean and brush your eyelashes with a thick brush that has natural hair and do this once per day, ideally in the evening. After cleaning and brushing, you may apply the vitamin E or Vaseline and allow these products to penetrate the pores and stimulate the eyelashes growth.
Repeat the LATISSE ® Treatment
The LATISSE ® treatment should start to show results in 8 to 12 weeks after you start using it. You may continue the treatment for a few weeks until you are satisfied with the results or until indicated by your physician. After discontinuing the treatment, your eyelashes may go back to their previous appearance. This may take a few months.
You may repeat the LATISSE ® treatment as many times as you want, provided you develop no allergic reactions to the product and that you present no major side effects.
