The LATISSE Treatment Process

LATISSE ® is the commercial name for the synthetic drug Bimatoprost. Also prescribed to treat glaucoma, the drug Bimatoprost replicates the chemical prostaglandin, naturally occurring in the body. In scientific studies, LATISSE ® has been shown to increase lash length, create fuller lashes, and grow lashes quickly. Available only by prescription, it is important to understand how LATISSE ® works and the proper application before you begin using the product. Before filling the prescription, explain your lifestyle and expectations to the doctor. Read the available pamphlets on LATISSE ® and ask your doctor for written instructions. Your pharmacist should also have literature available and if you have any questions about the proper use of the product before you apply it. Generally, LATISSE ® is applied directly onto the eyelashes once daily. Patients who use Bimatoprost for glaucoma must be careful not to get the LATISSE ® into their eye because an overload of Bimatoprost is counter-productive. Before applying the medication, clean hands and face removing oil, make-up, dirt and debris. Using one of the included applicators, apply a single drop of mediation to the disposable applicator. Using the same motion you would use in applying mascara, drag the applicator from the inside base line of the lashes to the outermost tip. After blotting any excess medication from the tip it is safe to dispose of the applicator brush. Use a new included applicator for the other eye. LATISSE ® is safe for contact wearers but the lenses must be removed prior to application of the medication. Contacts can be safely reinserted about 15 minutes after the application. Generally, patients should not be concerned if a little of the medication gets into eyes and rinsing the solution out is not necessary. LATISSE ® is not intended for use on lower lashes. To receive the greatest benefit of the product, regular application is necessary but doubling up on treatments will not speed the process. Patients can expect to see visible results from LATISSE ® in about two months and discontinuing use of the product will reverse any progress. Retain the freshness of the product by securely closing the cap after each use and store at room temperature.
