Dysport vs Botox vs Dysport?

Dysport may be relatively new here in the US, but it’s been contending with Botox in Europe for years. Both are big contenders in the nonsurgical asthetic arena. Both are botulinum toxin type A proteins and they both work in a similar fashion.

Beneficial aspects of both Botox and Dysport can be prolonged longer than the usual 4-6 months if the patients undergo a series of 3-4 treatments with 4 month intervals. The reason for this is that the continuous presence of Botox or Dysport in the muscle tissue “teaches” your facial muscles not to contract as actively as they did before you started Botox or Dysport. It is believed to have a more prolonged response in many people, even after the toxins are fully metabolized.

The choice of which treatment you go with depends on the doctor’s experience with each product and the needs of the patient. In your initial consultation, the doctor will discuss the options and treatment methods with you. Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have.
