How Evolence is Performed

As an alternative to a face lift, Evolence is a relatively easy, inexpensive and painless procedure. As with most injectable fillers, the Evolence procedure requires little preparation and no down time, and is performed in the doctor or dermatologist's office.

Preparing for Evolence

Little preparation is needed for an Evolence treatment. A consultation with the doctor who will perform the procedure helps the patient settle on realistic goals. Before and after pictures provided by the doctor can demonstrate exactly what the patient can expect to see after the procedure is finished.

Evolence is a form of naturally sourced collagen, and so does not require allergy testing before use. The doctor can help determine if any possible skin conditions might interfere with the procedure's effectiveness.

The Evolence Procedure

Based on the patient's goals, the doctor will decide where the vials of Evolence should be injected. Because Evolence gel is thicker than most other dermal fillers, a larger needle must be used for the treatment. In most cases, no anesthetic is necessary, but patients who are particularly sensitive to injections or needles in general should discuss the possibility of a topical anesthetic agent to reduce discomfort.

Typically, the doctor will mark the injection locations on the face. Evolence is used to fill in lines and wrinkles, and can also be used to produce the appearance of symmetry in the nose, cheeks or chin. Certain types of scarring also respond well to Evolence treatment.

The amount of Evolence used in each treatment depends on the patient's goals for the procedure. Each vial of filler contains about a milliliter of the gel, and a treatment can use several vials. The cost of the treatment is also determined by the number of vials used.

An Evolence treatment can take as little as fifteen minutes, though more extensive work will require a bit more time. There might be some discomfort associated with the injections, such as a pinching sensation, depending upon the size of the needle and overall skin sensitivity.

After the Procedure

An Evolence procedure requires very little after care. There might be some redness, and the injection sites might be visible as small red dots for a few hours after the injections have been administered. Some swelling occurs occasionally, and bruising is also an occasional issue.

Because Evolence gel is fairly thick in consistency, especially as compared to other dermal fillers, the doctor might gently massage or manipulate the injection sites and the gel after it has been placed. This is to be sure the gel settles in the correct position in order to achieve the desired results. After the procedure, patients might be asked not to massage the face for several hours in order to keep from inadvertently moving the gel under the skin.

Results of the Evolence treatment are immediately visible, but they will become even more pronounced after a few days have passed. The Evolence gel gradually absorbs into the body over a period of about a year. During this time, the patient might choose to have maintenance injections to maintain the desired look. After twelve months, additional treatments will be necessary.
