Initial and Long Term Results of Botox

Botox is a non surgical treatment that reduces wrinkles through the administration of an injection. The treatment lasts for 10 to 30 minutes and the results will be visible for up to 6 months. The botox will relax the muscles that contribute to the formation of the wrinkles and these will be reduced. If you are considering this treatment, you should know the initial and the long terms of this treatment. It’s important to have realistic expectations from the botox procedure.

Initial Results of Botox

Immediately after the botox treatment, the treated areas may be red and swollen, and you should avoid rubbing or massaging the area so that the botox affects only the targeted muscles.

The results will be visible in 3 to 5 days, after the area is completely healed. However, the optimal results can be observed after 2 or 3 weeks post injection. The botox injection will relax the targeted muscles, so the wrinkles will not be visible. The botox treatment targets the dynamic wrinkles, which form when you move your facial muscles. The treatment is not effective to treat uneven skin and will not improve the texture of the skin.

Long Term Results of Botox

One shot of botox is effective for an average of 4 to 6 months, but results may vary according to each patient in part. After this period, the muscles will be able to contract again and the dynamic wrinkles will reoccur.

The treatment can be repeated and some patients say that the effect of the shot tends to be longer after the administration of several botox treatments.
