Immediate Changes
The most noticeable change that JUVEDERM ® causes is also the most immediately apparent. The area where the JUVEDERM ® injection was performed will be plumped up, for an appearance of restored volume. Usually, this means that facial wrinkles or lines will be filled in and are immediately diminished or even eliminated. In the case of JUVEDERM ® injections in the lips, the lip appearance will normally take on a more filled in appearance, or a "bee stung" type look in some cases. The initial JUVEDERM ® injections may also produce some redness and swelling at the site of entry, but this normally resolves within a couple of days.
Long Term Results
JUVEDERM ® is the longest lasting of the FDA approved hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers today. Most patients find that the product lasts for between 6 and 9 months, and some patients have retained an improved look for up to a year. Long term, JUVEDERM ® patients can expect to have a facial correction that maintains its look without the need for constant touch ups. To prevent any change in appearance, many doctors recommend that patients get their touch up at about 6 months after initial treatment, since the product may last longer if it is maintained, rather that allowed to completely dissipate.
