Non-Invasive Alternatives to Radiesse

Radiesse is a dermal filler which is injected under the skin to relieve wrinkle lines, nasolabial folds or smile lines and to contour the face. Consisting of calcium–based microspheres, which are found in the body naturally, Radiesse is also used for scar reduction, treating vocal chord insufficiencies, facial lipoatrophy and oral and maxillofacial defects.

There are several dermal fillers which can be used as non–invasive alternatives to Radiesse. You should select a filler depending on eligibility, results and the specific uses.

Wrinkle Relaxers

Apart from fillers, you can also opt for wrinkle relaxers to relieve wrinkle lines from your face. Some wrinkle relaxers are Fusion Beauty LiftFusion Triple Threat Intense Target Magic Wand and topical Botox. Wrinkle relaxers generally contain peptide argireline and gamma–aminobutyric acid, or GABA, which are known to soften wrinkles.

Botox

A popular dermal filler, Botox is used to reduce wrinkles on the forehead, crow’s feet and creases between the eyebrows. Apart from this, Botox is also used to relieve migraines, excessive underarm sweating, muscle spasms and tension in the jaw. The results of the procedure only last for about 4 months, which is considerably less than those displayed by Radiesse, the results of which last for over a year. Repeat treatments need to be undertaken to maintain the results.

Juvederm

Based on hyaluronic acid, Juvederm is a dermal filler which is used to relieve wrinkle lines, lip augmentation and to reduce acne scars. Since it is based on hyaluronic acid, the filler binds with water and creates instant volume under the skin. The results of the procedure only last for about 7 to 8 months. Juvederm can be safely used under the eyes, which is not the case with Radiesse, which is not suited for thin–skinned areas.

Sculptra

Sculptra is the closest alternative to Radiesse in terms of the duration of results, with results lasting for nearly two years. It is a one–time treatment, and like Radiesse, it is also used to contour the face, apart from relieving wrinkles and other face lines. Bleeding, bruising, slight discomfort and swelling are some side effects that you may experience after the procedure.

Also, similar to Radiesse, Sculptra is not considered ideal for lip augmentation as there is a small risk of appearance of hard lumps under the skin, which require surgical removal. A difference between the two procedures lies in the appearance of the results, which is instantaneous in the case of Radiesse, and takes a few months with Sculptra.

Perlane

Similar to most dermal fillers, Perlane is used to smoothen wrinkles and other facial lines. It is also used for lip augmentation, and under thin–skinned areas, such as beneath the eyes.

Restylane

Restylane is also a hyaluronic acid–based filler, which is a thinner version of Perlane, and it displays results for about 4 to 6 months, similar to Perlane.
