Post-Hylaform Lifestyle & Maintenance

Hylaform is a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler, which is used to remove wrinkle lines and skin folds from the face. It traps water and increases volume under the skin, filling out wrinkle lines and folds, and giving the skin a smoother and younger appearance. Results are visible immediately and last for about 6 ? 9 months.

Post?Hylaform: Immediate Measures

The entire procedure lasts for about an hour, and there are no known serious side effects of the procedure, though you may feel slight bruising at the injected area. But, this will disappear soon and you can return to your daily activities immediately after the procedure. You are not required to put in any specific recovery time after the treatment.

Apart from slight bruising, you might also experience tenderness or redness at the injection site. These are also temporary side?effects, which disappear within a few days.

If you experience any of these side?effects, you will have to reduce exposure to the sun, or even a UV lamp. In addition, for 24 hours after the procedure, you should avoid strenuous exercise, exposure to excess heat, blood thinning medications and the consumption of alcoholic beverages. These activities have been known to cause the injected site to swell and become tender.

Avoid putting on any make?up immediately after the procedure, particularly if you experienced any bleeding or infections. Wait for a few hours after the treatment to put on make?up. Further, do not touch the injection site for at least 6 hours after the treatment.

Post?Hylaform: Long?Term Measures

Hylaform is derived from hyaluronic acid, which is found in the body naturally. This means that over time, the ingredients within Hylaform are absorbed into the body. This causes the wrinkle lines to reappear as the volume under them diminishes. This rate of absorption is unique for each individual, as everyone has different skin.

You will need to come in for repeat treatments to maintain the results of Hylaform. The number of times you will need to come in for treatments depends on your individual skin type. Other factors which affect the rate of absorption of Hylaform are the rate of muscle activity and biological change in your body.

A controlled clinical study has displayed that the effectiveness of Hylaform is retained for 12 weeks, after which the results will diminish significantly.

If you wish to retain the results of the treatment, then you will have to undergo maintenance sessions. If you do not wish to use the treatment anymore, there are no side?effects to Hylaform in the long term, as the ingredients are completely absorbed by the body and the skin returns to its natural composition.

In case you have combined Hylaform with other treatments, then proper post?treatment measures for the other treatments should be followed. You should consult a doctor about your individual requirements, depending on your skin type, as that will allow you to plan ahead for the maintenance sessions.
