Potential Side Effects of Elevess

Elevess is a dermal filler, which is injected beneath the skin to add volume and treat the facials lines and creases. Portions of the face can be effectively treated, with a possible occurrence of some common side effects.

If you are interested in getting rid of your facial folds and loose skin, Elevess may be one of the available options for you. Elevess is simply a cosmetic filler based on hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural element of the skin, which helps in absorbing excess amount of water, creating volume and supporting the structure of the skin. Once Elevess is injected into the affected area, it is absorbed slowly over a course of months, resulting in a wrinkle-free, smooth and youthful skin. But, since this treatment offers drastic improvements to the skin, there are also some potential side effects involved.

Mild Pain

You may have a mild degree of discomfort during the time of injection. Usually a numbing cream is applied on the skin to reduce such pain during the injection procedure. Also, dull pain in the treated areas is another potential side effect, which lasts from 1 to 4 days.

Swelling

Swelling is the most common side effect after the Elevess treatment. Hyaluronic acid fillers usually result in swelling that lasts from 3 to 7 days. Almost every patient suffers from swelling in the treated area for the first few days. This is more of a natural reaction to such cosmetic treatments. Swelling is most severe in lips. In case the treatment is done in the lip area, the lips will have an extreme puffy appearance for some days.

Bruising

Bruising may occur along with the swelling and last from 2 to 7 days. Post-injection bruising or redness is considered normal, but it may be a serious matter if bruising occurs due to infection. To alleviate discomfort, ice packs are highly recommended.

Hematoma and Necrosis

Two more potential side effects of Elevess are Hematoma and Necrosis. Hematoma means the pooling of excessive blood beneath the skin. Necrosis is termed as the premature death of living cells resulting in skin loss. These are quite rare and result only if proper care is not taken by the physician during the treatment.

Other Side Effects

Several other side effects are associated with Elevess, which basically depends upon the skill of the physician performing your procedure. If the doctor is not able to inject the filler to the required level of depth, Elevess may be visible under the skin. This may further result in development of small nodules or bumps under the skin. This is often termed as clumping and is quite dangerous. The particles may even displace from their initial location. Minor clumps can be treated with an anti-inflammatory injection. In severe cases, an additional surgery may be required.

The Elevess process takes 20 to 30 minutes, after which you can immediately get back to your routine. However, before making a final decision about Elevess, consult your physician and see if you are the right candidate or not.
