Similar Treatments and Alternatives to Evolence

Evolence is a uniquely formulated dermal filler used to treat deeper lines and wrinkles. It is a combination of porcine collagen and natural sugar. The collagen binds to the sugar structure to produce a more natural look with longer lasting results. Because Evolence is fibrous, it is more structurally stable than gel fillers. There are many alternatives treatments to Evolence, but nothing quite the same.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are used to diminish and smooth facial lines and wrinkles. They can also be used in lip augmentation. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the tissues of living organisms. It stimulates collagen production and replaces moisture.

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be used around the mouth, eyes, jaw, nose and forehead. Your doctor will inject the compound into your skin with a fine needle. This can be done in your doctor’s office. You will be able to resume your normal activities shortly after treatment.

Captique, Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm and Prevelle all contain Hyaluronic acid. All hyaluronic fillers require maintenance injections.

Botox

Botox (Botulinum toxin type A) is another alternative treatment. Unlike the dermal fillers, Botox is used to paralyze muscles in the face. Some wrinkles are caused by continuous muscle contractions, and Botox prevents the contractions. It is usually injected around the eyes and the forehead. Botox results are visible within a month and the results generally last 3 to 5 months.

Common side effects include headache, nausea and symptoms mimicking the flu.

Artefill

Artefill is categorized as a permanent filler. It contains bovine collagen that has been added to a suspension containing microspheres. It is used to treat nasolabial folds, small scars, wrinkles and lips. It is not for use around the eyes. Your doctor will inject Artefill beneath the scar or wrinkle. The collagen will break down, and gradually your body will begin to rebuild collagen. Talk to your doctor if you suffer from allergies or skin conditions. Your doctor will determine whether this treatment is right for you.

Radiesse

Radiesse is used to treat facial wrinkles and lines. Carboxymethylcellulose gel is suspended in a solution containing hydroxyl apatite microspheres. After injection, the connective tissue at the treatment site begins to form around the microspheres for a fuller, smoother look. The filler is permanent and results will last for up to 2 years. You will need touch-up treatments, as determined by your doctor.

Common side effects include swelling, redness and tenderness of the treatment area for up to 36 hours. Ask you doctor if Radiesse is right for you.

Fat Fillers (Autologous Fat Transfer)

In this procedure, your doctor will extract fat from your buttocks, thighs or stomach. The fat is processed and purified by your doctor prior to injection. Your doctor will inject the fat under the wrinkle.

There is no chance of an allergic reaction. Common reactions include swelling and bruising at the injection site. You will need additional treatments. This procedure may give you results for as short as a few weeks or as long as a few months.

Discuss your options with your doctor. Your doctor will take into account your medical history, skin tone and skin condition when recommending alternative treatments.
