Purtox is a cosmetic treatment that is similar to Botox and involves the injecting of botulinum toxin under the skin to reduce dynamic wrinkles. However, Purtox is considered to be a more refined version of Botox, having more effective results. If you are considering a Purtox treatment, it is helpful to know what to expect during the procedure.
What to Expect during Purtox
Purtox is a treatment that will consist of the administration of a few injections containing the botulinum toxin A. The plastic surgeon will assess the condition of the skin and establish where the injections should be administered. The most frequent dynamic wrinkles are around the eyes (crow's feet), on the forehead and around the mouth and nose.
The procedure does not require anesthesia, but you may opt for a local numbing cream. You can also take a mild sedative to help you feel more relaxed. The plastic surgeon will clean the skin, to prevent an infection.
Typically, 3 to 5 injections in the muscles under the skin are enough to relax the muscles and erase the dynamic wrinkles. The muscles will be unable to contract when smiling, frowning or making other facial expressions. This means that there will be no wrinkles. The discomfort during the administration of the Purtox injections will be minimal. There may be also minimal bleeding after the needle is drawn out.
Duratiof of Purtox
The entire Purtox treatment takes between 10 to 20 minutes, depending on how many injections are given and how many areas are treated.
