Alternative Uses of Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is a process usually used to remove or reduce the appearance of wrinkles developed over time by the effects of the sun, also called photo aging. It is also used to help reverse spots of darker pigmentation on the body, often referred to as sun or liver spots. Acne scars can also be removed using laser resurfacing. It works by making controlled wounds in the skin, which forces that same skin to create new cells and heal correctly.

Alternative Uses

Laser resurfacing, in addition to reducing the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles and sun spots, can be used to remove excess fat in the chin area, as a more modern augmentation to liposuction. Laser resurfacing has also been used to repair uneven skin, remove unwanted tattoos and hair, and used as a treatment to remove both premalignant and malignant skin lesions.
