Benefits of Active FX

Active FX is a partially-ablative laser skin treatment that aims to correct fine lines and sun damage such as age spots. This makes it an attractive solution to help reduce two separate problems. Active FX is different from many other laser skin treatments because it uses a fractional pattern. Its high energy targets very small, specific segments of the skin and leaves adjacent areas untouched, creating a grid or mesh-like pattern of laser perforations. This promotes fast healing as new tissues connect with existing ones to form a smoother, firmer layer of skin.

Active FX Benefits

Active FX can be completed in one session and typically takes less than an hour. It produces results similar to a chemical or full-laser peel. The laser instantly causes the existing collagen to shrink, which produces an immediate tightening effect. Other results will take some time to fully appear. It is ideal if you are too busy to spend time on multiple sessions, or if you can't take time off work or school to allow for recovery.

The high-energy laser intentionally damages specific areas of the skin to allow for regrowth of new skin. However, because it leaves some skin intact, it will heal faster than a treatment such as a chemical peel or full-laser peel. The body does not have to work to regrow an entire layer of skin, and the patient will be able to wear makeup soon after the treatment.

In the days after treatment, the skin will peel and flake while new skin is growing in evenly, and with fewer defined wrinkles and sun spots. With adequate protection from the sun, such as SPF lotions and hats with wide brims, results can last 5 to 6 months. During this time, the body will be producing new collagen, so results are more noticeable several months after the procedure than they were in the first few weeks. If desired, the procedure can be repeated to maintain results.
