FDA Approval Status for Fraxel Repair

Fraxel Repair is an ablative CO2 laser system that is used for promoting skin rejuvenation and similar treatments. The Fraxel Repair product uses a unique type of laser to stimulate the tissue below the epidermis, in the dermal area. This and other similar laser treatments offer cosmetic dermatology options for a growing patient base.

FDA Approval for Fraxel Repair

Official press releases show that Reliant, the maker of Fraxel products, got approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2007 to use Fraxle Repair for  ablation, coagulation and skin resurfacing. The web site of the company shows more intended uses that Reliant claims FDA approval for, including pigmented lesions and "textural irregularities" in the skin.

Other Approved Uses

In addition, Reliant says the FDA has approved Fraxel Repair for treating wrinkles and lines in the face. Laser treatments like this one work on the dermal layer, manipulating tissues underneath the face to provide a tighter look on the surface of the skin.

The Fraxel Repair product has also been FDA approved to treat a condition called vascular dyschromia, a disorder often related to pigmentation according to medical resources.
