Fraxel Repair and Dry Skin

Fraxel re:pair is a type of skin treatment using Fraxel laser technology. It is the most aggressive form of the therapy available, but is still gentle and non-invasive. In fact, it is often used as an alternative to traditional facelifts. It has a proven track record for removing facial blemishes such as scars, sun damage and wrinkles.

How It Works

Using special CO2 laser technology, a laser penetrates the skin's surface and creates microscopic wounds there. These wounds trigger the body's natural healing response and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. This creates fresher-looking, more youthful skin. It also erases facial blemishes such as wrinkles, scars and damage caused by the sun.

What to Expect

Prior to the treatment, your skin will be cleansed and a topical numbing agent will be applied. Your dermatologist may elect to give you a prescription medication, such as Ativan, to help you relax. The treatment session lasts about 30-40 minutes. Most patients describe feeling heat, but not pain, during the session.

You will probably only require one treatment session. Downtime lasts about a week, after which you can go back to your usual skin care routine.

Fraxel re:pair and dry skin

Because dry skin is aggravated by ablative treatments and is usually quite sensitive, it responds very well to Fraxel therapy. Because Fraxel re:pair is such a precise form of treatment, only a fraction of your skin needs to be treated at one time. This makes it much gentler to dry, sensitive skin than non-fractional ablative therapies.

If you are unsure if raxel re:pair is the right treatment option for you, consult with a dermatologist. He will be able to tell you if Fraxel is the right choice for your skin's needs.
