Fraxel Repair for Adolescents

Fraxel re:pair is a kind of cutting edge laser technology that is being used to treat damaged skin. It is often used as a non-invasive alternative to a facelift, as it has a proven track record for eliminating moderate to severe wrinkling, sun damage and scarring.

How It Works

Re:pair is the most intensive form of Fraxel laser therapy. During a session, a laser is used to go beneath the surface of the dermis. This laser then makes tiny wounds under the skin's surface. These wounds prompt the body's natural healing process and stimulate collagen and elastin production. This process created fresher, more youthful-looking skin while removing blemishes from the skin.

What to Expect

Re:pair is usually only given as one 30 to 40 minute session. Before the session begins, your skin will be cleansed and a topical analgesic will be applied. Your dermatologist may elect to give you an additional prescription medication, such as Ativan, to help you relax. During the session you will feel an increased sensation of heat, but no pain.

You can return to your normal activities and skin care regimen about a week after your treatment session.

Fraxel Re:pair for Adolescents

Generally, Fraxel re:pair is used to treat the signs of aging, and as such, is usually given to patients who are aged 45 and older. However, because re:pair is so effective at removing acne scarring, it may be a non-invasive alternative for removing these scars in adolescents.

If you are unsure if Fraxel re:pair is the right treatment for your skin, consult with a dermatologist. He will be able to assess your skin problems and suggest the best solution.
