Ideal Results of Blue Light Therapy

Blue Light Therapy grants patients with a near guarantee for eliminating acne from the skin’s surface. However, this treatment has not yet become widely used, and therefore still lacks definitive evidence regarding safety and side effects. Oppositely, the major studies that have tested Blue Light Therapy proved that the advanced method does improve skin conditions.

Blue Light Therapy Treatment

Low powered lasers eliminate the bacterium that causes acne from the outer layers of skin. Repeating this process provides patients with an effective method for acne removal, though some types of acne actually become worse when hit by the Blue Light lasers.

For example, one major study showed that all acne was decreased by the Blue Light Therapy except for those patients with nodulocystic lesions, a severe type of acne that protrudes off of the skin’s surface. Another study conducted in Japan during 2002 showed similar results in which more than half of the patients acne decreased, while a small percentage remained unaffected or worse.

Result Variances

Depending on the type of acne that patients suffer from, they must expect different results. No conclusive evidence proves that all types of acne will get eliminated through the use of Blue Light Therapy sessions, though some have in fact shown major positive results.

Although this acne treatment procedure did receive approval from the Food and Drug Administration, more research will become necessary in order to definitively prove that Blue Light Therapy serves as a risk free, efficient and cost effective method for treating patients.
