Medical Conditions and SmartXide Dot Therapy

SmartXide Dot Therapy is a laser therapy that uses carbon dioxide to treat signs of aging and scarring on the neck, face, chest and hands. The procedure is performed in your doctor’s office with local anesthesia. Although the procedure is safe for most skin types, you should not have the procedure performed if you are pregnant. There is no data to indicate that the treatments are harmful to pregnant women and their unborn children; however, effects on pregnant women have not been studied.

SmartXide Dot Therapy is a type of fractional resurfacing technology. The hand held device treats targeted areas, by creating tiny holes (dots) in the skin surface. This destroys the old and damaged skin, allowing the formation of new, healthy skin.

Allergies

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotics or if you may be allergic to the ingredients that are used during SmartXide Dot treatments.

Diabetes and Blood Clotting Disorders

In rare circumstances, you may develop an infection after treatment. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes. If you have diabetes, you may experience a delay in the healing process.

Tell your doctor if you suffer from any blood clotting disorders. In rare instances, mild to severe bleeding may occur.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant, SmartXide Dot should not be performed until after delivery. Pregnancy affects every woman differently. The hormonal changes in your body may affect the appearance of your skin. Some of these conditions continue throughout the duration of the pregnancy. Hyper-pigmentation occurs in many women. Specific regions of the body are susceptible to darkening. Melasma is also a condition that develops in some women and it can be treated by SmartXide Dot following your pregnancy. There is no way to determine how pregnancy will affect your skin, or for how long during your pregnancy. Hormonal changes are ongoing, and you may not end up with the results you desire.

Your doctor will review your medical history and determine whether or not SmartXide Dot is right for you.
