Non-Invasive Alternatives to SmartXide Dot Therapy

SmartXide Dot Therapy is a micro-ablative procedure for healing and rejuvenating your skin. Sometimes people prefer alternatives which are less invasive in nature, but offer equivalent results.

CO2 laser resurfacing has been in the acne treatment market for the past 15 years. Dot therapy is a new version of this laser resurfacing that gives similar results, while having only a fraction of the downsides. However, as with other similar treatments, SmartXide Dot Therapy has a number of potential risks and complications involved.

Some of the less invasive alternatives for this treatment are as follows:

Fraxel Restore

Fraxel Restore is the closet alternative to Dot therapy among all the laser resurfacing treatments. Since Fraxel does not employ the strong and harmful CO2 lasers to directly target the affected area, it is considered less invasive in nature. It instead uses erbium lasers which remove the link between the affected area and the underlying skin, thereby resulting in peeling of only the upper tissue layer.

ActiveFX

ActiveFX is another non-invasive alternative to Dot therapy. It is known to treat acne problems in a single session. It can cover a large number of areas including the face, chest, hands and neck. A laser is used to target the affected area, which stimulates the collagen production. A topical cream may be used during the procedure, but the pain associated is usually low. The biggest advantage is that only a fraction of the skin is treated by the laser, which leaves behind various bridges. These bridges enhance the healing process and you can return to your normal routine faster than you can in the Dot therapy.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion involves the use of micro crystals to polish the top layer of the skin. It is considered to be less invasive and more gentle than SmartXide Dot Therapy. It does not require any local anesthesia as the pain involved is comparatively less. However, topical creams may be applied to avoid mild pain. The recovery period associated is also less than Dot therapy. In SmartXide, you may have to rest for at least 1 week and then stay away from the sun for at least 3 weeks, but in case of microdermabrasion, you can get back to your routine much sooner.

Natural Treatments

You can all together avoid cosmetic procedures and opt for a natural treatment to rejuvenate your skin. Several products like tea tree oil, Aloe Vera, green tea, natural berry juice and olive oil are a few known to treat the root cause of acne without causing any harmful side effects.

It depends upon your medical history and the extent of your condition to know which alternative is the most suitable for you. Once you know the kind of results you want and the level of risks you involved, you can easily opt for any of the available acne treatments.
