How to Prepare for Lipolite Laser Liposculpture

Lipolite Laser Liposculpture is a minimal invasive slimming surgery that involves the use of a tiny cannula that will suck the fat cells from the targeted areas. If you are about to have this treatment, you will have to prepare so that you will experience fewer side effects after the surgery.

Discontinue Certain Drugs

Your plastic surgeon will let you know about how the procedure is done and he will also recommend ceasing the administration of certain drugs that you may be taking, such as:

  • Contraceptive pills
  • NSAIDs or non steroidal anti inflammatories such as aspirin or ibuprofen

Stop taking these medications four weeks before the surgery and if needed, discuss your alternatives with your doctor. Taking these drugs can increase the bleeding during and after the procedure and may also cause blood clotting problems. Smoking should also be discontinued at least one week before and after the treatment, especially if the incisions are made in the face and neck area.

Prepare for after the Surgery

The surgery is performed under anesthesia, so even if you will be able to go home on the day of the procedure, you will need someone to give you a ride and care for you for the remainder of the day. Take a day off work.

Prepare some pain medication for when you get home and the anesthetic wears off. Over the counter pills should be sufficient to reduce the discomfort. You may also prepare some ice, which can be applied near the incision sites to reduce the swelling.
