PureLipo is a tumescent liposuction that removes fat from various areas of the body. The procedure involves minimal bleeding due to the tumescent anesthesia and will give visible results. Preparing for PureLipo is essential in getting the best results possible with minimal side effects and complications.
How to Prepare for PureLipo
To prepare for a PureLipo procedure, you should avoid drugs that facilitate bleeding (non steroidal anti inflammatories such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen or arthritis pain medication). If you take birth control pills, discontinue these 1 week before the surgery, as these may facilitate the formation of blood clots.
Don’t take vitamin E for at least 3 weeks before the surgery, as this vitamin will interfere with the blood clotting. Smoking and drinking should be avoided before and after the surgery, as these will delay the healing process and may also promote the formation of blood clots. Avoid smoking for at least 2 weeks before and after the surgery, and don’t drink alcoholic beverages 2 days before and after the PureLipo procedure.
Day of Surgery
Take a hot shower just before going to the clinic, and remove the hair from the areas that will be treated. Don’t eat on the day of the surgery, as the stomach must be empty; but, you may drink water.
You should get loose clothes on the day of the surgery, as the tumescent solution may cause swelling, and there will also be draining from the incisions after the surgery. Even if the procedure is an outpatient surgery, you should take 1 day off from work.
