What to Expect During Lipolite Laser Liposculpture

Lipolite is essentially a form of laser-assisted lipolysis. It is regarded as the most progressive form of contemporary fat-removal. It is particularly recommended for areas that are hard-to-treat with conventional liposuction, including the upper arms and chin. However, before opting for this treatment, a basic understanding of the procedure is vital.

Basics of the Lipolite Procedure

Lipolite is conducted using a compact machine. This machine can be easily fitted into a clinic. This is a minimally-invasive procedure. The specialist starts by applying a local anesthetic.

Lipolite uses SelectPulse technology for delivering the laser in the form of pulses. The laser used here is Nd:YAG, which is among the safest of laser lights used in cosmetic treatments. The use of short pulses ensures greater precision over the amount of heat induced. This means that fat removal can be controlled to a greater extent. The precision of heating also ensures that fat can be removed up to varying degrees in and around the treatment site—this helps in sculpting the treatment sites.

During the procedure, the attending specialist makes very small incisions at the treatment site. Then an optical fiber is fitted into a cannula and carefully inserted through the incisions. The pulses are transmitted through the fiber. The heat induced by the pulses causes gradual melting of the adipose tissue.

The specialist keeps a close watch on the monitor to ensure safety of the procedure. Using a suction mechanism, the molten fatty tissue is extracted through the cannula.

The patient is likely to feel some discomfort, mainly in the form of heat and a slight, prickly sensation. The comprehensive heating also ensures tightening of tissues around the treatment site since the heating stimulates the formation of more collagen. The entire session usually lasts for about 45 minutes. Repeated sessions might be recommended for some patients.
