What to Expect During ProLipo

ProLipo is a laser-assisted fat removal system that is often chosen because of its minimally invasive nature. ProLipo has many benefits and a quick recovery time. If you are going to undergo a ProLipo surgery, you should learn what to expect during the procedure.

Anesthesia

The ProLipo procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The anesthetic will be injected in the fat tissues. The anesthetic solution contains epinephrine in diluted amounts. The solution is left until it takes effect. You may feel the injected areas start to go numb.

The ProLipo Procedure

During the ProLipo procedure, the plastic surgeon will make a few small incisions using a small scalpel. You won't feel pain, as the area will be numb.

The surgeon will then introduce a thin cannula under the skin in the areas that have been injected with anesthetic. The cannula contains a tiny laser beam that will liquefy the adipose tissues. Once the fat is liquefied, it can be removed with a suctioning hose that will be connected to the cannula. The liposuction is not necessary if there are limited amounts of liquefied fat to be removed; in this case, the body will automatically eliminate the fat.

The incisions won't require sutures, and they will be left to allow the fat liquid to drain for a few days after the procedure.

After the Procedure

After the procedure, the plastic surgeon will apply a constrictive bandage that will promote healing and will prevent infections. The plastic surgeon will schedule a follow up meeting to monitor the results.
