Doctor or Day Spa?

Laser surgery is a popular choice these days for everything from hair removal to getting rid of that tattoo that you shouldn't have gotten that one drunken night. It's a terrific thing that laser surgery has become so widespread that it's now affordable to the average person. After all, we all want to feel a little more confident and ridding ourselves of that unwanted hair and those bad choices goes a long way towards building that confidence. But the fact that laser treatments are so widespread these days may not always be a good thing. A new report by CNN Health looks at the importance of knowing who it is that you're getting your laser surgery from and what kind of expertise these people have. They warn that if you aren't going to a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, you may be opening yourself up to some surgical risks that you would probably rather avoid. They specifically cite the case of a woman who went to a med spa that was performing illegal surgeries and who, as a result, suffered excruciating pain as a result of the lasers. You don't want your bad tattoo erased that badly. There are plenty of good med spas out there and there are a number of different places that you can go to get laser surgery. You just need to be aware of the risks that are involved in this common cosmetic dermatology practice. Be sure to interview the doctor who will be performing your laser surgery about his or her experience and certifications. A good doctor will not take offense to this kind of questioning and you can save yourself a whole lot of pain. Photo credit: All body surgery
