Pearl Laser Resurfacing

The latest in the treatment of wrinkles and lines is the Pearl Laser. The pearl laser functions like all other lasers and removes the most superficial layers of the skin with light energy.

The treatment is gentle, but does sting. After the initial treatment, the old skin is replaced by newer, younger looking and more vibrant skin

IT is claimed that the pearl laser also penetrates the deeper layers of the skin and stimulates the generation of collagen. This collagen then elevates the skin, and improves both the tone and texture of the new skin.

Besides the face, the pearl laser has been advocated for use on the

- hands

- neck

- back

- abdomen

- chest

The pearl laser treatment is an outpatient procedure and usually takes about 5-15 minutes for the entire face.

After the treatment, the skin will have a mild sun burnt type look for a few days. During this time, the sun should be avoided and the skin should be kept moist with creams. One may wear make-up to hide the redden areas.

After 4-7 days the new skin will appear and the old skin will peel off.

Unlike the other powerful lasers, the downtime with a pearl laser is only a few days. However, because the pearl laser is not powerful, the results are also mild at best. Most individuals require multiple sessions every few months. And even then, the cosmetic benefit is only 50-60%.

Like all other treatments for lines and wrinkles, the pearl laser is also a temporary solution and all individuals require frequent treatments every 1-2 months to maintain the every modest cosmetic benefit.
