Skin Care for Those Who Have Sensitive Skin

When a person goes looking for skin products, whatever they might be, they probably have noticed that there are a number of different categories, each one for a different skin type. For example, if a woman is looking for makeup, she might see brands that are tailored specifically to oily skin, dry skin, combination skin, or sensitive skin.

It is the sensitive skin that requires the most diligent of skin care. The main reason for this is because many products, anything from soap to makeup, could result in a person breaking out in a painful rash, or at least result in skin redness. Taking all of this into consideration, there are various ways that a person with sensitive skin care go about finding the proper skin care.

First of all, there is the issue of the sun. People with sensitive skin usually have very fair skin as well, so when they are exposed to the sun for long periods of time, their skin burns and turns bright red. They also end up with more noticeable skin damage, such as lots of moles and freckles. Thus, it is very important that people with sensitive skin always wear an SPF of 40 or above when out in the sun for long periods of time. Some SPFs are specially formulated for people with sensitive skin as well.

What kinds of things can women do when it comes to skin care for sensitive skin? First of all, when it comes to makeup, it is best to use powder instead of liquid concealer. The main reason for this is because the liquid forms often clog pores. Powder allows more oxygen to get to the skin, which in turn allows the skin to be healthier.

Then, of course, there is the issue of bath products. Women with sensitive skin should use a sponge instead of a loofah, and should keep on the lookout for special body washes that indicate they are for sensitive skin. Something else that women should do is avoid deodorant and anything else that contains perfumes, as they are most likely allergic to them.

What kinds of things should guys do for skin care if they have sensitive skin? One of the first things that they should do is investigate gentle shaving lotion. Usually, shaving lotions that have Aloe Vera in them are preferable. Cologne might cause rashes, so if it has to be used, it should be used sparingly. Also, the SPF rule still applies!

For males or females who happen to have acne in conjunction with their sensitive skin, it is especially important that they avoid acne treatments that have a high concentration of Salicylic acid in them. Although this kind of acid is meant to cure the infection that causes acne, it can also irritate the skin further. To this end, natural skin care products are often used. People can make a masque out of household items such as egg whites, yogurt, or oatmeal, too. If a person with sensitive skin has any additional questions, they should ask a dermatologist.
