How Thermage treatment is performed

Your doctor will begin by applying grid markings on your skin using temporary tattoo sheets. Next a conductive gel is spread over your skin. The Thermage hand piece is passed over your skin following the grid pattern. You will feel a sensation of heat and then cooling from the device, but it is not painful. If your eyelids are treated then you will also wear protective contact lenses during the session.

Recovery and results

There is no recovery period for Thermage, but your skin might be slightly red for a few hours after treatment. Some people see immediate results, but the skin tightening and smoothing results generally appear four to six months after treatment as your skin grows new, firmer collagen.
