Yes, fat can be harvested with traditional tumescent liposuction, power assisted liposuction, vaser liposuction (ultrasound assisted) and laser liposuction. The viability of the fat cells may be altered with the partially destructive forces delivered with heat, ultrasound, or laser energy. In general fat which is harvested then transferred retains approximately 50 to 70% of its volume depending on the techniques utilized to harvest and prepare the fat. This autologous fat can to transferred to the face, breasts, buttocks, or other regions with subcutaneous contour deformities.

The answer to your specific question is NO. Mainly because you mentioned "laser liposuction". Laser lipo, or mostly known as Smartlipo, actually kills the fat cell during the process. So, you would never want to use those cells when you are transferring into another area. When you look at fat transfer physicians, they usually have some sort of harvesting device, whether traditional, PAL, Tickle Lipo, or water lipo. These are devices that remove the fat, while keeping it in a living state. Recently Vaser has started to get into the fat transfer business, but it's a really tough one with that technology. Mainly since for years, we were told that the fat was being melted, and now, it's not?!? Once the fat is removed, if the physician has a laser lipo device, it would be smart to go back over the area and use it as a finishing tool. Laser lipo is great at tightening skin, and should always be done after liposuction anyways.
So to review, laser lipo fat is NOT good for fat transfer. But, laser lipo is very smart and very good to do after the harvested fat is out for skin tightening purposes. Also, as an added bonus, make sure you find a physician that activates your stem cells in the harvested fat with Platelet Rich Plasma. Without the PRP, you wont get a good fat cell survival rate. With PRP, you can reach over 90% fat cell survival...and that's what you want!
