How Restylane treatment is performed

Restylane is an in-office treatment that takes about 30 minutes and requires topical or injected local anesthetic.

Your dermatologist will numb your treatment area with a topical cream, or an injected anesthetic or nerve blocker. Your treatment area will then be marked with a pen, and the Restylane is injected into your skin using a fine needle or blunt-tipped cannula. The anesthetic used will ensure your comfort during the injections.

Recovery and results

You may have some temporary redness, swelling, or bruising around the injections that can last a few days. There’s typically no downtime when treating wrinkles and folds, but injections in the lips can cause more significant swelling that lasts for about a week. You’ll see your final results once the swelling subsides. Results typically last six to nine months, depending on the area that was treated.
