Lipodissolve should be performed by a licensed physician who has been trained to perform these injections. There are times when nurses either nurse practictioners or RN's are doing these procedures. If they have direct supervision under licensed physician then they are within the scope of their practice. However, there are times when a nurse hires a medical director to "legalize" their clinic or are under an umbrella of a chain clinic. You will have to wary about this. It is not to say that injections are difficult to perform. They are not. The concern is if there are any complications then will not be able to manage these problems especially if it requires prescriptions, further injections, hyperpigmentation, infections, etc. So when they need help, no help will be there and you will be stuck and no one else will help you.

LipoDissolve is an unapproved compound that is injected by a diverse groups of physicians and non-physicians. While the issue of safety is paramount, a nearly equal issue is that of effectiveness. LipoDissolve, even when done by a very qualified physician, is an inefficient and less effective process than any form of liposuction. And I make that statement having done thousands of LipoDissolve treatment sessions over the past 4 years. While the appeal of non-surgery is what drives interest in LipoDissolve, it is a non-medical approved treatment that does not usually achieve what most patients want. It is simply not a substitute for liposuction surgery. If one only has a handful or less amount of fat in an area or two, it might be a consideration. But most patients are poor candidates for LipoDissolve even if it was FDA-approved. It is a relatively poor value for what you pay. It would be better for most patients to save their money and undergo a proven and effective liposuction procedure.

In my opinion it should be only performed by a physician or in by a nurse with direct supervision of a physician. I know of clinics that do not have a physician on site and if there is a problem they do not have the equipment or expertise to take care of the patient. I have seen anaphylactic reactions to Lipodissolve. Remember safety is first.

We do not recommend LipoDissolve to any of our clients. LipoDissolve is not an FDA approved procedure and uses unapproved drugs for unapproved purposes. Some countries have banned the treatment outright. In the United States - Kansas - issued a temporary ban on Lipodisolve which remains in place and in effect at the present time. Finally three prominent medical organizations have issued detailed warnings about Lipodisolve: the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS). If cellulite or fat reduction is your main concern, there are may treatments in the market, like Velashape II and SmartLipo that can help with these concerns.

The answer to that question varies by State. In Florida as an example a licensed Physician can have an Medical Assistant, Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant perform LipoDissolve if the Doctor is on site. If the Doctor is offsite, then only a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant may perform this service. Also neither LipoDissove or Mesotherapy are FDA approved.
