Advantages and Disadvantages of Fraxel Repair

Fraxel repair is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that can reduce wrinkles on the face, neck, arms or other small areas on the body that have scars or other pigmentation problems. The treatment is based on CO2 laser technology. There are several advantages and disadvantages that you need to consider before deciding to get a fraxel repair treatment.

Advantages of Fraxel Repair

Farxel repair is a non invasive procedure, so there will be no scarring after the treatment. The procedure will reduce fine lines and wrinkles and will give you a younger appearance. Fraxel repair employs laser beams that will remove the superficial skin cells and will also tighten the skin, giving it more elasticity.

If you have any scars, these may also be diminished; pregnancy melasmas will also be eliminated. Fraxel repair is less expensive than a traditional face lift and will also require less recovery time.

Disadvantages of Fraxel Repair

The main disadvantage of fraxel repair is that it is a procedure that cannot be applied in certain cases. Fraxel repair is not recommended for smokers or people with dark or extremely tanned skin. The treatment is less likely to be effective in smokers, as the smoke will slow down the healing process.

The treatment will not have flattering results when the patient has extensively loose facial skin. The procedure can be effective in tightening the skin and reducing wrinkles, but if you have a lot of loose skin, you should consider other more aggressive treatment options.

The fraxel repair treatment cannot be used in pregnant women, people who are under retinoid medication or medication that has photosensitivity side effects (i.e. Roaccutane). People with a history of Keloid scarring should also avoid this procedure.
