Pregnancy and Slim Lipo

Slim Lipo is a fat removal procedure that uses lasers and melts the fat and removes it using a suctioning cannula. The procedure is suitable for use in male and female patients, but women get this procedure more often than men. When it comes to a pregnant patient, the Slim Lipo procedure should be avoided for multiple reasons.

Slim Lipo before Pregnancy

Slim Lipo can be performed to extract fat from the stomach, back, hips, thighs, arms or buttocks area. It can also be applied on the face, as the procedure is minimally invasive.

The procedure will not involve the reproductive system, so it may be performed before pregnancy. However, during pregnancy, fat gain is most probable, so the effects of Slim Lipo will not be durable. Typically, patients wait until after pregnancy to get the procedure.

Slim Lipo during Pregnancy

Slim Lipo uses lasers that emulsify the fat, and these lasers may be potentially harmful for the fetus. The procedure should not be performed if the patient is pregnant. The hormones that are present during pregnancy can interfere with the effects of Slim Lipo. During pregnancy, most women gain weight, so Slim Lipo may not be very effective.

Slim Lipo after Pregnancy

Slim Lipo can be safely performed after pregnancy. The ideal time to get a slimming procedure is 6 weeks post partum, or after the breastfeeding period is over.

Slim Lipo can remove the fat accumulated during pregnancy and will also tighten the skin that may have lost its elasticity.
