Recovery after ArteFill

ArteFill is a cosmetic filler that is performed as an outpatient procedure. The effects of ArteFill are more resistant that the effects of other fillers. Unlike other temporary fillers, ArteFill will not be absorbed by the body so it will last longer. The recovery period after an ArteFill procedure is fast and trouble free.

What to Expect after ArteFill

ArteFill is a filler that contains collagen and microspheres that will iron out the wrinkles and give long lasting results.

The procedure involves the injection of the filler under the skin. The injection sites will be swollen and the second day after the treatment, the swelling may be more severe. Use some cold compresses on the swollen areas or alternatively, place some ice packs on the day of the treatment. Some patients may also experience redness. This should subside in a few days.

If you experience headaches, you should get some over the counter medications; try to avoid non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs such as aspirin. Typically, you may carry on with your usual activities after an ArteFill treatment.

In rare cases, allergic reactions may occur, but the doctor will run some tests prior to the administration of the treatment to make sure that you are not allergic to the injectible substances the ArteFill procedure employs.

Usually, one ArteFill treatment is sufficient to correct wrinkles, however, your doctor will assess the results and let you know if an additional treatment is needed. If the wrinkles are deep, a second treatment may be required. The collagen and the microspheres will have a rejuvenating and tightening effect.
