Only gentle products should be used immediately after microdermabrasion.
The skin should be fully intact and no longer irritated before applying any
makeup to the surface. Soothing skin care products and gentle cleansers
should be applied until the area is healed. Healing will depend upon how
deep the operator went with the device.

Natural based cosmetics are great after microderm. Your specialist can recommend a wide array of treatments to speed up healing after treatments but usually none are required after microderm.

After microdermabrasion the best type of make-up is mineral make-up, since it has no potentially irritating chemical additives. If you are having microdermabrasion, it should require healing time if a diamond system is used. The older crystal-type systems do cause some irritation. As to topical products to speed healing, copper lotions are remarkably calming post procedure. Any good moisture product (without any perfumes) will calm
the skin, and a good sunscreen (containing zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) is necessary. Feel free to contact my office if you need additional help.

Microdermabrasion treatments do not penetrate the top epithelial layer of the skin and removes only dead skin cells. It does not expose the underlying or the 'live' part of the skin. As a result, microdermabrasion does not create an open wound and no real healing is needed. Therefore, you can apply cosmetics within 24 hours after a treatment.

I am surprised you need something for healing after Microdermabrasion. They
may be too aggressive on your skin. Ask the aesthetician to go a little
easier on your skin.
You can wear makeup later that day or definitely the next day.

Microdermabrasion creates little or no down time. After the treatment topical creams are usually applied, and pure mineral makeup (such as Jane Iredale) can be applied immediately. If you do not use a mineral makeup foundation, we recommend you wait a day before applying it. Other than a good quality moisturizer there is no special topical treatment needed post microderm.
