LipoDissolve Myths and Facts

LipoDissolve is a fat reduction procedure which involves a series of small injections into the affected area. The injections contain phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate, or PCDC, which break down fat cells and even out the target area. These chemicals are generally stored in the gall bladder, where they aid the digestion of fat.

Before undergoing LipoDissolve treatment, it is essential that you are able to differentiate between the myths and facts associated with it. Although licensed medical practitioners will generally guide you in the right direction, it is important to know everything about the procedure before taking the plunge.

Myth: Everyone Is Eligible for LipoDissolve

Fact: LipoDissolve is not suitable for everyone. It is only suitable for those who are looking to get rid of small deposits of fat. LipoDissolve cannot address fat-reduction on a large scale and is not a solution for medically obese people. Pregnant women are also not eligible for this procedure.

Myth: LipoDissolve Is Certified as Completely Safe

Fact: LipoDissolve is not an FDA-approved process and even though it is practiced everywhere, there is no official certification. There are several side effects associated with this procedure, including swelling, scarring, asymmetry and skin allergies.

Myth: Results after the Procedure Are Instantaneous

Fact: LipoDissolve is a procedure that gives results over time. After 6 to 8 sessions, you will be able to see some changes on your body.  In all cases, there is no noticeable change to the body fat content or shape after just the first sitting. For most people, a loss of 2 to 6 cm can be expected, per treatment. For most, results are only visible a few months after the treatment.

Myth: LipoDissolve Is a Permanent Solution

Fact: LipoDissolve is a process that reduces fat over time. The procedure is never complete on its own and between each session, you must consume a healthy diet with lots of fluids, along with a stringent exercise schedule. If an unhealthy lifestyle is adopted it could lead to re-deposition of fat, negating all the work carried out in previous sessions.

Myth: The Procedure Does Not Require Any Recovery Time

Fact: Most people can return to their normal activities within a couple of days of the procedure. You might take longer if you experience any side effects, such as swelling or bruising, particularly on the face. In such cases you will need anywhere between a week to 10 days to recover completely.

Myth: Anyone Can Perform the Procedure

Fact: LipoDissolve can only be performed by medical professionals. Even though any physician can perform the procedure, it is mostly conducted by cosmetic or plastic surgeons. Be sure to check your physician's credentials before deciding on the procedure.

Myth: LipoDissolve Only Treats Fat

Fact: The LipoDissolve procedure not only targets fat cells, but it also breaks down cellulite, giving you a more effective solution. Apart from this, LipoDissolve is used to treat lipomas, gynecomastia, skin retraction, scar revision, fat mound in the pubic or genital area, xanthelasma and to even out results of traditional liposuction, or lipoplasty.
