Common Uses of Acoustic wave therapy

Acoustic Wave Therapy was initially introduced and used by sports doctors and podiatrists to treat sport-related injuries.  As the years progressed, Acoustic Wave Therapy was also widely used to relieve joint pain and stiffness.  Over time, this innovation resulted in remarkable improvements with the skin becoming taut and smooth.

This painless non-invasive treatment requires no drugs or anaesthetics. A mechanical hand piece utilizing paddles to release slow waves and pulses of pressure penetrates through the skin and fat when applied to the affected areas.  This treatment usually lasts about one half hour or less per session allowing for tissue regeneration and in turn, helps to create new collagen. Patients are treated twice per week for three weeks.  A maintenance session of every three months is recommended.

Cellulite Reduction

Cellulite is the hardening of the connective tissue and fat deposits that are trapped under the skin that causes a dumpling cottage cheese effect.  Many women experience cellulite during their child bearing years and often later.  Some people are more genetically inclined to have more cellulite, or may have an increased amount from weight gain, smoking and even at times, from an improper diet.  Although this is a natural occurring condition, it can be disturbing for many.

Acoustic Wave Therapy may reduce cellulite in the following areas:  buttocks, flanks, hips, arms, abdomen, thighs and knees.

Results from clinical studies show that the shockwave therapy stretches the skin, improving skin elasticity and therefore, firms and softens skin.

Pain Management

Pain and stiff joints are often associated with poor circulation. Acoustic Wave Therapy is a new modern pain management and therapy that may reduce muscle spasms, tendonitis, and heel spurs by emitting shockwaves, thus improving blood and lymphatic circulation.  Free radicals are reduced and pain may be lessened.  Less pain equals increased mobility.

Anti-Aging Skin Appearance

Studies show that skin appears to be taut and smooth after a few treatments.  The therapy procedure transmits gentle vibrations under the skin, producing a mild inflammatory reaction triggering new cell growth.  As the skin is pushed up, it allows for the intake of nutrients pushing free radicals out from the cells.  This in turn, allows the skin to stretch and become firmer and thicker with a more even appearance.  Clinical studies show that skin that suffers previous trauma--from injury or operative procedure--may benefit increased healing from this procedure.

Treatment for Sinusitis

Physicians often have a difficult time treating sinusitis, even after prolonged use of antibiotics.  Many doctors find that stimulating the nasal tissue with the shockwaves from the Acoustic Wave Therapy  cause tissue regeneration and improves nasal functions.

Management for Immune Deficiency Disorders and Cancer

Persons that are diagnosed with HIV, AIDS or cancer may benefit from this treatment in combination with other treatments.  The therapy and shockwaves may kill harmful cells and help to produce new cells.

Studies have shown this new innovation Acoustic Wave Therapy could have many benefits.  Will this be a cost-effective procedure that will be of benefit for you?  Remember that in order to benefit fully from any type of treatment, good diet and exercise are necessary to obtain great results.  Please be sure to always seek the advice and consultation from a certified professional when initiating any type of treatment.
