Non-Invasive Alternatives to Hylaform

Hylaform is an injectible dermal filler, which contains hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the human body, specifically in the skin. Hyaluronic acid traps water and maintains intercellular spacing, meaning it maintains the volume of the skin. Hylaform consists of hyaluronic acid, which has been derived from roosters that have been specially bred for this purpose.

Like Hylaform, there are several other dermal fillers, which can be taken up as alternatives to this technique. Some dermal fillers consist of natural substances similar to Hylaform, while others contain synthetic ingredients.

Isolagen

Isolagen is a unique dermal filler, which is used for the same purposes as all dermal fillers. It reduces wrinkle lines, and creases and diminishes scars. This dermal filler is created by using your own collagen producing tissues and cells. It is the only dermal filler to be created in this manner, and hence also has the least side effects and risks associated with it.

Evolence

Evolence is obtained from porcine tendons. Used to smoothen wrinkles and remove skin folds, Evolence presents a lower risk of an allergic reaction and also produces results which last for nearly a year, which is longer than those produced by Hylaform.

Juvederm

Juvederm is a dermal filler which is also obtained from hyaluronic acid, though it is also used to add volume to lips and sculpt the contours of the face. Results last from 7 to 8 months to even a year.

ArteFill

A dermal filler containing bovine collagen and microspheres of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), ArteFill is the only dermal filler which produces permanent results. This is because the microspheres within ArteFill do not get absorbed into the body, unlike those of fillers such as Hylaform or Juvederm. This results in permanent support for nasolabial folds or smile lines. But unlike Hylaform, ArteFill is not appropriate for everyone and only has FDA approval for treatment for nasolabial folds.

Radiesse

Radiesse is another dermal filler with calcium based microspheres, which are suspended in water based gel. The results are not as permanent as ArteFill, but are nevertheless long lasting in comparison with hyaluronic acid based fillers.

Restylane

A dermal filler based on non?animal based hyaluronic acid, Restylane is FDA approved since 2003, to clean up nasolabial folds and wrinkle lines near the nose and mouth. Restylane binds with water molecules and increases volume under lines, filling them out and smoothing the surface of the skin. It is absorbed into the body, and displays results for about six months after the procedure.

Injected Collagen

Injected Collagen is not only used to fill out wrinkles or creases, it can also be used to clean up certain types of scars as well. In addition, it can be used to enhance the volume of the lips. Results vary for each person, and it does not work on severe facial wrinkles.

Lipotransfer

Lipotransfer is a procedure where your own fat is harvested and re-injected into the problem area. Showcasing similar results as injected fillers, Lipotransfer does not involve the injection of foreign material under the skin, reducing the level of risk and side?effects.

Some other injected fillers that can be used as alternatives to Hylaform include, Elvess and Prevelle Silk, and Sculptra.
