Adolescents are not affected by wrinkles, and they don’t require cosmetic treatments that improve skin texture and reduce wrinkles. However, Purtox, which is a treatment that is normally used to remove dynamic wrinkles in adults, has different uses in adolescents.
Uses of Purtox for Adolescents
Purtox is an injectible solution that is very similar to Botox and employs diluted amounts of the botulinum toxin to relax the facial muscles and eliminate dynamic wrinkling in adults. Even if adolescents may have dynamic wrinkles, they typically won’t require cosmetic treatment.
Botox, as well as Purtox, can be used in adolescents, but not to reduce wrinkles, but instead to eliminate head aches and migraines. Several studies have demonstrated that Botox is an effective pain killer. A diluted solution of Botox can reduce migraines and eliminate chronic head aches. This treatment is recommended for adolescents that don’t respond well to traditional head ache remedies. Several injections are required to achieve the best results.
Purtox is similar in formulation to Botox, so in theory, it should have similar effects in adolescents. However, there is a need for additional research to confirm this theory.
