What to Expect During a Prevelle Silk Procedure

Prevelle Silk is a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler that helps eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and adds moisture to the skin, giving you a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance. Unlike other injectable fillers, Prevelle contains a small amount of lidocaine, a local anesthetic that alleviates discomfort at the injection site. The treatment can be used on moderate to severe wrinkles around the mouth and nose. Here are some of the things you can expect during a Prevelle Silk procedure.

Pre-Treatment

Because there are no animal products in Prevelle and hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the body, there is no pre-treatment testing necessary. In most cases, you can receive the treatment on your very first visit. Although Prevelle contains lidocaine, some doctors may choose to administer a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area before completing the injection.

Procedure

A Prevelle Silk injection is what as known as a lunchtime treatment because it can be done in 30 minutes and requires no downtime. Once you are prepped for your treatment, the doctor will insert a fine needle into the injection site. The Prevelle Silk gel will add volume to the skin, minimizing the appearance of wrinkles. You will notice results almost immediately following the injection.

Recovery and Results

Directly after the procedure, you may experience some mild irritation, redness or swelling around the treatment site. However, this is likely to subside after a week or so. Some patients may need a follow-up treatment after a week or 2 to achieve the desired results. The effects of the treatment last anywhere from 3 to 6 months.
