The Fraxel group of cosmetic treatments includes Fraxel Restore, Fraxel Refine and Fraxel Repair. These treatments are innovative and employ laser beams to reduce wrinkles and get a softer skin texture. The recovery time depends on each treatment in part.
Recovery after Fraxel Repair
Typically, Fraxel Repair requires only one session. After the treatment the recovery time may be up to 1 week and you may experience:
- Skin oozing for up to 24 hours after the procedure
- Swelling, which will be at its worst on the second day and will last up to 5 days
- Redness (sunburned appearance), which can be present for up to 1 week and will turn into a pinkish hue (which may persist up to 1 month in the most extreme cases)
- Flaking, which may occur after day 4 or 5
You can return to your normal activities in 1 or 2 days. You can wear makeup, but it’s important to wear sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.
Recovery after Fraxel Restore
Fraxel Restore is a treatment that is administrated in up to 6 sessions, scheduled 2 to 4 weeks apart. After each treatment, you may have the sensation of a mild sunburn. You may also experience:
- Mild redness
- Swelling
- Irritation, in rare cases
Recovery after Fraxel Refine
The recovery after the Fraxel Refine procedure is similar to the recovery after a Fraxel Restore treatment; the sunburn sensation may be felt for up to 3 days.
The recovery time may vary according to each patient’s age and health condition.
