I have two brown spots that I would like to get rid of. I have tried lotions but what treatments exist to remove them?

Hello. If the brown spots are from sun damage, we would use a q-switched laser to permanently remove them. Sometimes IPL can work well, but doesn't necessarily get rid of the spots permanently. If the spots are related to the hormonal condition Melasma, then we would use hydroquinone bleaching products. If you have Melasma, it is a chronic condition and only goes away while you are using the product. If you have not used a prescription strength bleaching product and you have Melasma, this is the way you should go. Good luck.

The most common condition that we see, as you described, is sun damage. Our recommendation is to use the Cynosure Icon IPL treatment. The Intense Pulsed Light will treat the sun damage, removed the dark spot, and expose the fresher skin below. There is minimal discomfort, no down time, and results occur over the next couple weeks. There are things we consider in treatment: skin type, IPL treatment settings, location, assessment of the dark spot, possible need for more than one treatment. As with any IPL treatment you would need to stop using any retinal products and avoid sun before and after treatment. Always use a good sunscreen.

We have a procedure called IPL which is intense pulsed light that with several treatments will lessen the appearance of those spots. Also with the combination of Kojilac-C serum at home for daily use, those spots will lessen in no time.

One ideal treatment is IPL or Intense Pulse Light. It is a laser that goes after brown pigment and can remove the spots. It has no downtime. It requires usually a number of treatments.
