Medical Conditions and ReFirme

ReFirme is a non invasive skin treatment that is effective in tightening skin, reducing wrinkles and other skin imperfections. The treatment may be used in adults that have no health issues. There are a few medical conditions that won’t allow the use of the ReFirme treatment.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for a ReFirme cosmetic treatment is healthy and takes no medication. The treatment may also be safely applied in patients with chronic diseases (i.e. diabetes), provided the condition is controlled with medication (i.e. regular insulin shots).

Conditions that Interfere with ReFirme

The following medical conditions won’t allow a ReFirme treatment:

  • Autoimmune diseases (i.e. lupus erythematosus), as the energy used in the treatment may trigger the activity of the immune system. Even if the conditions are controlled by medication, the ReFirme treatment is not recommended.
  • Hepatitis, as the ReFirme treatment can cause an outbreak of cold sores. If the virus is not active and viral drugs are administered, the treatment can be performed with no contraindications.
  • Pregnancy, as the effects of the ReFirme treatment on the baby are not predictable

Patients that take oral retinoids or get topical treatment with retinoid creams should not get a ReFirme treatment, as the retinoids can interact with the elos light energies used by ReFirme. The retinoids should be discontinued at least 3 months prior to a ReFirme session.

Tanned or artificially tanned patients should also avoid the ReFirme procedure. The tan should fade away before ReFirme can be safely applied.
