Candidacy for Hylaform

Hylaform is an injectable derma filler that uses hyaluronic acid, a sugar that occurs naturally in the body, to help you retain fluid and add volume to the skin. Here are some things to consider when determining if hylaform is right for you.

Good Candidate for Hylaform

Hylaform can be used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles on the face. It can also add fullness and volume to the lips, treat deep nasolabial folds and reduce the appearance of scars. If you have a desire for smoother skin and fuller lips or have unsightly acne scars, you may be a good candidate for the hylaform treatment.

Who Shouldn't Get Hylaform

The hyaluronic acid found in hylaform is derived from rooster combs. Though the substance is highly purified, if you have hypersensitivity to avian proteins, you may have an allergic reaction to the treatment.

Hylaform has not been tested on women who are pregnant or nursing. Therefore, the treatment is not recommended if you are expecting.

Though the hylaform can help reduce the visibility of certain scars, doctors don't recommend the procedure if you are prone to keloid scar formation.
