Laser resurfacing is not the best for this problem. You will need a laser specific for the destruction of blood vessels. We mainly use the Epilight system for this and get very good results. In some cases we combine this with the Ellman machine for larder vessels and sometimes with topical or systmenic antibiotics.

Resurfacing does not treat rosacea but other light based therapies can work. The most common laser used for rosacea treatment is the 595nm laser that will treat the vessels. This laser has a tendency to cause a bruised look called purpura. The purpura will go away in 1 to 2 weeks. Newer versions of this laser tend to cause significantly less purpura. Other options are IPL systems that can treat red in blood vessels. I prefer to use the BBL system as it allows me to customize the treatments to each patient more than other IPL systems. The BBL will not cause the purpura but tends to take a few more treatments than the 595nm laser.

Yes, the fotofacial technology can treat rosacea. There have been dramatic results for this condition. A combination of light-based treatment plus topical cleansers and creams with calming properties and vitamin K may be used.

The standard treatment for rosacea, or any red problem, would be laser or light in a wavelength that is picked up by red, i.e. Broad Band Light with a 560 nm filter. The thickening of the nose or rhinophyma seen in some individuals would require different treatment.

Laser resurfacing is not necessary for the treatment of Rosacea. It responds well to IPL photofacials- usually a series of 3 treatments.

Rosacea is easily treated with the FotoFacial head of the Syneron system. All pigment issues, browns, blacks and reds are adequately treated with this wavelength of IPL therapy.
