Can heat dissolve Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers . 2 answers . 5 years ago

I had one of the newer fillers that helps produce collagen. Then I had a facial with a laser? It seems the filler dissolved, can this be attributable to the laser/heat?

In general, we do not believe this to be the case, because the heat generated by the lasers does not generally penetrate far past the epidermis (upper layer of skin) and the dermal fillers are injected into the layer below this, the dermis. While we do not believe the lasers
will affect our injections, we also do not take a chance by scheduling laser treatments before the injection procedures and allowing 1-2 weeks to pass before the lasers are used again.

There have been many studies done on the use of lasers after the injection of fillers. The studies all support that it is OK to use lasers after fillers. They have not seen an increase in side effects or a decrease in efficacy of the filler. These include studies on Thermage, infra-red light and others. Now with the said, I have heard of physicians using a 1064nm laser to try and resolve a bump from the hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvaderm or Restylane. So I would talk to the physician that did your injections and see what they feel about the loss of the filler.
