Acne Treatment and Fair Skin Tones

Skin tone plays little to no role in the effectiveness of nearly all acne treatment options. Acne develops in the same way on almost every patient, regardless of skin tone or texture. When pores on the skin's surface become clogged with oil and other small particles of debris from the environment, acne spreads. Acne treatments help fix this issue for people of all ages with any skin tone.

Fair Skin and Acne Treatments

Intensive acne treatments such as dermabrasion and laser based therapy provide safe, effective and fast results to patients of all skin tones. Those with fair skin tones notice similar results when compared to patients of darker complexion. The major difference in patient results appears only when they show completely different levels of acne before a procedure begins. Those with severe cases of acne of require more treatment sessions, and sometimes notice less of a positive result when compared to those with only slight acne.

Fair skin, like any skin complexion, plays virtually no role in the effectiveness or lack thereof in regards to acne treatment. However, some patients do notice slight differences in the aftereffects of acne treatment options such as chemical peels and dermabrasion based on skin tone. For example, those with fair skin tones sometimes notice more redness after receiving intensive acne treatment when compared to patients with very dark complexion.
